Two soldiers aboard an 82nd Airborne Division helicopter that made a hard landing were not injured, authorities said.
The crew, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Timothy R. Thomas and Chief Warrant Officer 2 Luis F. Correa, were treated at Womack Army Medical Center and released.
The OH-58 Kiowa Warrior helicopter made the hard landing Sunday evening near Angier in Johnston County.
The helicopter and crew, which belong to 1st Attack Battalion, 82nd Aviation Brigade, were en route to Fort A.P. Hill in Virginia for a training exercise when the accident occurred.
The helicopter, which is used for reconnaissance missions, took off from Simmons Army Airfield at Fort Bragg and went down at 7:30 p.m., said Fort Bragg spokeswoman Sgt. Ramona Reznechek.
An investigation into the cause of the accident will be conducted by the U.S. Army Safety Center from Fort Rucker, Ala.
