William Cobb ``Bill'' Ramsey Jr., 37, of 6262 Mill Swamp Road, died Wednesday, July 26, 1995, at his residence.
He was a native of Nansemond County and a farmer with Ramsey Brothers Inc. Mr. Ramsey was a member of Smithfield Baptist Church, Smithfield Jaycees and a director of Prescription Fertilizer and Chemical Co., Ivor. He was a graduate of Fork Union Military School and attended Elon College and North Carolina State University.
Mr. Ramsey was the son of the late William Cobb Ramsey and is survived by his mother, Kathryn Robbins Ramsey of Ivor; one sister, Martha Ann Ramsey of Ivor; and and uncle, John A. Ramsey Jr. and family of Ivor.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield Chapel, with the Rev. Donald E. Watkins officiating. Burial will follow in Mill Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 97, Smithfield, Va. 23430, or a favorite charity.
