MAYOR FILES FOR BOARD

In a surprise move, incumbent Mayor R.W. "Bill" Buell filed qualifying papers to run for a seat on the town's board of commissioners.

In the last Manteo election, Buell qualified to run for a commission seat, then changed his registration at the eleventh hour to run for mayor.

In other political action, Charles B. Thompson filed to run for a seat on the Nags Head Board of Commissioners. James Dean Hanks will run for a seat on the Kill Devil Hills Board of Commissioners.
