David Wayne Moody Sr., 50, died on July 30, 1995, in a Virginia Beach hospital.
Mr. Moody, son of the late Willie J. and May Bryant Moody, was a native of Portsmouth. He was employed as a school teacher at Hunt-Mapp Middle School, Portsmouth. He was a teacher for 23 years and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 418.
Survivors include one daughter, Andrea Johnson and two sons, David Moody Jr. and Woodrow Moody, all of Chesapeake; six sisters, Iva Haywood of Williamsburg, Gracie Mahoney of Anchorage, Alaska, Mary Ellen Romanczyk of Chesapeake, Odell McFarland and Bertha Foster, both of Portsmouth, Sue Bell of Virginia Beach; four brothers, Willard J. Moody Sr. and Thomas Moody, both of Portsmouth, Ryland Moody of Chesapeake, Frank Moody of Norfolk; one grandchild.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 2 in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by Dr. Thomas J. Powers. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Knights of Columbus Council 418, 519 County St., Portsmouth.
