WOMEN ROBBED

Two women were robbed by the same man within an hour early Thursday at separate convenience stores near downtown.

In the first incident, a man approached a cashier leaving the 7-Eleven in the 400 block of North Main Street at 12:50 a.m., saying, ``Don't say anything, or I will kill you.'' He removed money from her right pocket, then ran south on Main Street.

In the second incident, a suspect approached a newspaper carrier from behind as she was leaving the Sentry Food Store in the 800 block of West Washington Street at 1:45 a.m. He pushed her to the ground, then said, ``I am going to kill you.'' He took money and a pack of gum from her and ran north, toward West Constance Road.

The woman was injured slightly but did not require medical attention, said Suffolk Police Detective E.C. Harris.

The suspect was described as black, 20 to 30 years old, 5 feet 9 to 6 feet tall, 140 to 160 pounds. He was wearing tan pants and a white shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to call 925-6350.
