THOUSANDS VOW TO GET INTO SHAPE

A ton of people called the BFIT line in July.

Actually, it was ``weigh'' more than that. We had 3,277 calls.

Here are the goals of some callers who joined Fitness Quest last week:

To participate in the state Senior Olympics and qualify for the nationals.

To get back to ``my pre-pregnancy weight.''

To run two miles without walking.

It's not too late add your pledge or receive helpful hints on fitness and nutrition. Fitness Quest runs through December.

Just call Infoline at 640-555 and then press BFIT (2348).

Each week 10 callers who pledge their goals are selected at random to receive a ``Go for Fit'' T-shirt.

This week's winners are:

R. Adams, Chesapeake; P. Bennett, Chesapeake; K. Betit, Portsmouth; S. Harris, Virginia Beach; B. Layman, Virginia Beach; L. Pidgeon, Norfolk; S.L. Smith, Virginia Beach; C. Stone, Virginia Beach; J. Wetzel, Virginia Beach; S. Wisinger, Virginia Beach.

You can order a T-shirt by sending your name, address, shirt size and a check or money order for $10.45 (includes tax) to The Virginian-Pilot, Fitness T-Shirt, P.O. Box 1978, Norfolk, Va. 23501. by CNB
