Warren, leading the race at the time, was run down by drivers anticipating

the green flag. The result was a major pileup. Warren was involved and was

forced to pit. When the race resumed, he was sixth and Edwards first.

Edwards, who had been in fourth place most of the race, never lost that

lead and took his first checkered flag of the season.

Warren, who has 15 victories at the track this season and a commanding lead

in the series points race, finished fourth. Charlie Bryant Jr. finished second

and Joe Gaita third.

   In Saturday's other races:
Roger Bress took the checkered flag in the 75-lap Grand Stock race but was

disqualified when his car failed the postrace inspection because his flywheel

was too light. That made pole-sitter Rick Hester a first-time winner this

season. The flywheel helps engage and disengage the clutch. Bress' flywheel

was about 3 1/2 pounds lighter then the mandated 16 pounds.

Pole-sitter Kevin Wagner was never challenged en route to his ninth win of

the season in the 25-lap Pure Stock race. Series points leader Cory Fogelman

finished second and Sam Zoellner third.

Kevin Harrison took the lead from pole-sitter Trevor Falls on lap four and

didn't look back in picking up his 11th win of the year in the 25-lap

Mini-Stock event. Series points leader Jimmy Adkins finished second and Falls
third. William Tippit and Chris Weatherford were involved in an accident on
the first lap. Tippit left in an ambulance; the extent of his injuries was not

known at press time.

Ronnie Davis took the lead on lap 14 and never relinquished it to win the

special 50-lap Mid-Atlantic Modified Tour race. Davis, who was second in the

point standings to Bret Hamilton entering Saturday night's action, started the

race in the fourth position. The race was marred by nine caution flags, but no

one was injured.
