Isabel Tadlock Powell, 89, of 604 East Stores St., died Aug. 17, 1995, in Guardian Care Nursing Home, Ahoskie, N.C.
She was born in Bertie County, N.C., and was the widow of Lowell Kesler Powell. She was a member of Ahoskie United Methodist Church and was a 1927 graduate of Duke University. She taught at Ahoskie High School in the 1930s, and was the retired owner of Powell's Insurance Agency, Ahoskie.
She is survived by two sons, Retired United States Navy Captain William Charles Powell of Virginia Beach, and Thomas Lowell Powell of Charlotte, N.C.; one brother, William A. Tadlock Jr., of Windsor, N.C.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday in Ahoskie United Methodist Church, by Dr. Kenneth Hall. A private burial will be at a later date in Ahoskie Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday. Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, the United Methodist Church Missions, or a favorite charity. Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, is handling arrangements.
