Johnnie Earl Ashley, 82, of the 1400 block of Virginia Road, died Aug. 17, 1995, in Chowan Hospital.
A native of Chowan County, Mr. Ashley was a son of the late Perlie and Mary Bunch Ashley, and the husband of Mrs. Mary White Ashley. Mr. Ashley was a retired farmer and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
Surviving other than his wife are three daughters, Lillian Jackson, Carolyn Bunch, and Patricia Timberlake, all of Edenton; two sons, Marvin Ashley of Edenton and Wayne Ashley of Hertford; one sister, Chloe Warren of Norfolk; three brothers, Perlie Ashley and Everett Ashley, both of Edenton, and E.C. Ashley of Norfolk; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in the Macedonia Baptist Church, by the Rev. Bob Young. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Evans Funeral Home of Edenton is serving the Ashley family.
