Elizabeth Bartlett Lankes Howard, fondly known as ``Betty,'' died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 1995.
She was the youngest child of the late artist J.J. Lankes. She was 70 years old. Born in Buffalo, N.Y., Mrs. Howard was a lifetime resident of the peninsula. She was a homemaker, and an avid animal lover. She was an Episcopalian.
Survivors include one son, Charles B. Howard; two daughters, Margaret A. Howard and Leslie M. Howard; two brothers, J.B. Lankes and John M. Lankes, all of Hampton; and a sister, Emily L. Fournier of Seaford, Va.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Greenlawn Cemetery, Newport News, by the Rev. Nolan Crowder. The family will gather with friends prior to the funeral in Lawrence B. Wood Funeral Home from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be designated to the Peninsula Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
