A man who tried to drive off when approached by two would-be robbers was shot late Saturday and died Sunday afternoon at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
The incident occurred about 11:45 p.m. in the 1500 block of Isaac Street. Police said Calvin Butler, 41, of the 6100 block of Witham St. in Virginia Beach, was sitting in his car when two men came up and tried to rob him.
Butler hit the gas, but the men opened fire as he drove away and one of the bullets struck him. He died at 4 p.m. Sunday.
Police have no suspects and are asking anyone with information to call Crime Line at 664-4040.
