WAR AND REMEMBRANCE

When I was young, I heard the phrase, ``Remember the Maine.'' Today I say, ``Remember the Arizona, remember Pearl Harbor and remember the Bataan Death March.''

To those who say that we did not have to use the atom bomb on Japan 50 years ago, that Japan would have surrendered anyway, I say, ``Bunk!'' Does the word ``kamikaze'' ring a bell? Life did not mean much to the Japanese 50 years ago - that is why they raped and tortured and killed many thousands. If dropping the bomb saved one American life, it was worth it.
