The Rev. David Lee Hoffman, age 55, of Hilliard, Ohio, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 1995, at Kobacker House.
He was employed by the Pathway House under the auspices of the Columbus Area Community Mental Health Center. Former pastor of the Great Bridge United Chruch of Christ, Chesapeake, Va., and Ziegle's Union Chruch in Breinigsville, Pa. Member of the Central Southeast Association of the Ohio Conference of the United Church of Christ. Recipient of many community service awards for his concerns involving medical, food and shelter drives for the needy, assisting those with long-term mental health disorders, abuse victims and with the rehabilitation of dysfunctional youth. Received his undergraduate degree from Eastern Nazarene College, Wallaston, Mass.; Masters of Divinity, Lancaster Theological Seminary, Lancaster, Pa.; and Masters of Social Work, Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Va. He was a member of the Collie Club of America, the Columbus Collie Club and the White Collie Club.
He is survived by wife, Nancy Lloyd; children, Tonya Hoffman Jamir of Chesapeake, and David Lee Hoffman Jr. of Virginia Beach; stepchildren, Edward Lloyd Field of Seattle, Wash., Wendy Anne Field of London, England; two granddaughters; five brothers, and six sisters.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Road. The Rosary Service will be conducted by Monsignor William Maroon at 8 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Dublin Community Church of Christ, 81 W. Bridge St., by the Rev. Mr. Charles Kuck and the Rev. Mr. Roger Miller. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Blue Ridge Memory Gardens, 6701 Jonestown Road, Harrisburg, Pa. Memorial contributions are suggested for the Pathway House, 1203 East Broad St., Columbus, Ohio 43215, in his memory.
