Norman Knight died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 1995, in a local hospital, and his wife, Evelyn L. Knight, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 1995, in her residence. Both were of the 500 block of Pleasant Hall Drive.
Mr. Knight was a retired trackman of N&W Railroad, where he worked for 27 years. He was retired from N&W for 27 years. He was born in Virginia Beach and was a member of Mount Bethel Baptist Church in Virginia Beach.
Mrs. Knight was a housewife and was also born in Virginia Beach. She was a member of Union Baptist Church in Virginia Beach and she was also a member of the United Order of Tents J.R.G./J.U. (NU)137 Golden Sheaves.
They are both survived by their three daughters, Lenora Knight of Virginia Beach, Catherine Gray of Virginia Beach, and DeLores Knight of Virginia Beach; seven sons, Frank Knight, Isaiah Knight, of Virginia Beach, John N. Knight of Norfolk, Ernest Knight of Portsmouth, Robert Knight, Earl Knight of Richmond, and Clyde Knight of Far Rockaway, N.Y.; 21 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Knight is also survived by two brothers, Rufus Knight and Milton Knight, both of Virginia Beach.
A funeral for both will be conducted noon Saturday by the Rev. Alfred Chandler in Union Baptist Church, Virginia Beach. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The remains will be placed in church at 11 a.m. Chatman Funeral Home, Norfolk, is handling arrangements.
