I do not believe that a person's life should be reduced to a single act, no matter how violent, particularly if that person was truly remorseful.
The fact that Charlie Poole returned to the scene of the one horrible act in his young life to take his own life shows how heavy this weighed on his heart (``Once again, death comes to a Virginia Beach lake,'' MetroNews, Aug. 19). Why did you find it necessary to dig up a 15-year-old story and replay it upon his death?
Charlie was a good person. He had a wife whom he loved very much and a 2-year-old daughter he adored. His dream of a lifetime, to own his own home, had just come true less than three months ago. Charlie was a printer, one of the best in the trade. His work was always done to perfection. He was always willing to help someone else, something that got him into trouble more than once. We will miss Charlie Poole very much and our hearts are heavy over his death.
