MARIE P. BAKER

Marie Pierce Baker, 90, of Nansemond Parkway, died Sept. 1, 1995, in Suffolk.

She was a native of Sunbury, N.C., and was the widow of Oscar J. Baker Sr. She was a member of Berea Christian Church and was a charter member of Driver Chapter (NU)149, Order of the Eastern Star and was its first Worthy Matron.

She is survived by one daughter, Eva Lee Rushing of Suffolk; one son, O.J. Baker Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth, of Suffolk; one brother, Woodley W. Pierce of Portsmouth; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Olive Branch Cemetery by the Rev. James R. Cress and the Rev. J. Robert Bennett. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Boulevard Chapel, today from 7 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the church or to the Bennetts Creek Rescue Squad.
