Helen Beatrice Ashley Sawyer, 82, of the 1500 block of Campostella Road, died Sept. 1, 1995, in her residence.
She was born in Nansemond County, Va., and was the widow of Lonnie B. Sawyer Sr. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church, Chesapeake.
She is survived by two daughters, Doris M. Bryant and Rheta Faye Rhodes, both of Chesapeake; four sons, Lloyd B. Sawyer, Lonnie B. Sawyer Jr., Darrel L. Sawyer, all of Chesapeake, and Kenneth D. Sawyer of Jacksonville, Fla.; 20 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday by the Rev. Patrick Creed in Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. and at 1405 Ardmore Circle, Chesapeake.
