USAir Group Inc. announced Wednesday that Seth Schofield, its chairman and chief executive, is retiring. Schofield will remain with USAir until a successor is chosen. He is credited with leading the nation's sixth largest airline through difficult times in the airline industry.
Some thought USAir was a prime candidate for bankruptcy. Instead, USAir announced Tuesday that it expects to post a profit for 1995, its first annual profit since 1989. Schofield, who has worked at USAir and its predecessors since 1957, led the company for the past three years. A committee of non-management directors was formed to search for a successor. by CNB
