Esther Houghton Motley, 74, of Portsmouth and formerly of Chatham, Va., died Monday, Sept. 4, 1995, at the home of her sister.
Mrs. Motley was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart Conrad Motley; and her parents, Rev. Stanley B. and Ella Blanche Weddle Houghton. Mrs. Motley was a member of Marion Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Ella Motley Brusso, and son-in-law, Fred. R. Brusso, of Portsmouth; sister, Frances H. Moore of Danville, Va.; brother, Eugene Houghton of Waco, Ky.; and three grandchildren.
The graveside service was conducted by the Rev. Edward Earl on Thursday, Sept. 7, 1995, at 11 a.m. in the Motley family cemetery. The family received friends Wednesday, Sept. 6, 1995, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Scott Funeral Home. Other times the family will be at the residence of her sister, Frances H. Moore. Scott Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
