Ernest S. ``Snake'' Marshall Sr., 64, of the 700 block of Madison St., died Sept. 6, 1995, in Sentara Nursing Center.
He was a retired mechanic of eight years from C.E. Nix & Son Auto. He had worked there for 35 years. He was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth N. Marshall; and his parents, Gladys and Robert Marshall.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Marshall; two daughters, Patricia Blow of Portsmouth, Diane Gardner of Portsmouth; three sons, Ernest S. Marshall Jr., and Dennis H. Marshall, both of Portsmouth, and Sterling Marshall of Chesapeake; four sisters, Vivian Washington, Gladys Johnson, both of Portsmouth, Phillis Wichard, Brenda Marshall, both of Portsmouth; two brothers, Robert Marshall, Leanard Marshall, both of Portsmouth; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Amelia Stith of San Diego; and one brother-in-law, James Stith of San Diego.
A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Serentity Funeral Home Chapel, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Park, Portsmouth. The family will receive friends todayfrom 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at 408 Cassway Arch, Chesapeake at 12:15 p.m. Saturday for the procession to the chapel.
