POLICE OFFICER KILLED IN CRASH

An off-duty Virginia Beach police officer was killed in a motorcycle crash early Thursday.

The officer, Daniel Burton, 30, lost control of his motorcycle about 2:30 a.m. near Ferrell Parkway and Indian Lakes Boulevard.

Burton was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he died just after noon.

The accident is under investigation.
