David J. Moniot has joined Dills Ainscough Duff Architects as a project architect. Moniot is a graduate of the University of Virginia and is a registered architect. He brings 10 years of architectural experience to the Virginia Beach firm.
ENGINEERING
Mark W. Strickland has joined Langley and McDonald in Virginia Beach as a civil engineer and senior associate. For the last 11 years, Strickland has served as vice president, secretary and project manager for a local architectural/engineering firm where he developed, managed and designed civil engineering projects. He is a registered professional engineer in Virginia.
James S. Peters, a certified landscape architect and land planner, has joined AES Consulting Engineers, a civil engineering and land surveying firm in Williamsburg. Prior to joining AES, Peters was with The Planning & Design Collaborative in Richmond for eight years.
HEALTH CARE
Jeanean Dearman Lewis, immediate past president of the Association of Plastic Surgery Assistants, has been appointed to fill the vacancy of vice president until the end of the year. The Association of Plastic Surgery Assistants is an international organization under the auspices of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. She has been employed as office manager for Dr. Bruce G. Freeman, a plastic surgeon in Norfolk for 12 years.
Dr. Ken Mayer, a family practitioner, is now practicing at the Sentara Health Care Center in Chesapeake. Mayer, who is board certified by the American Board of Family Practice, is currently affiliated with Maryview Medical Center, Sentara Leigh Hospital and Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
INDUSTRY
Ronald L. Philbrick has become president of Eure-Philbrick Inc., a sign and graphic arts company in Chesapeake. Prior to this, Philbrick was president of Signs of the Time of Chesapeake. Also, Brian K. Eure has become vice president of Eure-Philbrick Inc.
LAW
M. Powell Peters has become an associate of Wolcott, Rivers, Wheary, Basnight & Kelly, a law firm in Virginia Beach. Peters was formerly general counsel and chief financial officer of American Industrial Loan Association in Virginia Beach. He will concentrate in corporate law and estate planning and taxation.
REAL ESTATE
Virginia Batteen-Hawks has been elected senior vice president and a stockholder of S.L. Nusbaum Realty Co. in Norfolk. Batteen-Hawks has had 23 years of experience in the real estate industry and has been with the company since 1992. She is a graduate of the University of Washington.
Timothy M. Finn has been elected as vice president of S.L. Nusbaum Realty Co. Finn has been with S.L. Nusbaum since 1993 and specializes in the development, sales and leasing of retail properties. He has a business degree from Old Dominion University.
SERVICE
J. Roger Taylor has been promoted from general manager to vice president and general manager of Ecolochem. Taylor, during his nine years with the company, has been Northeast area sales manager and director of operations. Prior to joining Ecolochem, he was district manager for the Dowell Division of Dow Chemical Company in central West Virginia and Philadelphia.
Ecolochem Inc. is an international provider of both mobile and fixed base water treatment services.
William S. Miller has been promoted to vice president of technical marketing at Ecolochem in Norfolk. Miller, who joined the company in May of 1981, was formerly technical director. Miller previously held positions with the Permutit Company and Rohm and Haas Co. in Philadelphia.
STOCK BROCKERAGE
Charles G. Armfield has joined Merrill Lynch as an assistant vice president/resident manager in the Hampton office. Armfield has been active in the financial services industry since 1985. He previously worked with Legg Mason Wood Walker.
UNITED WAY
Nan York, director of the Virginia Peninsula Retired Senior Volunteer Program, has been appointed as vice president of the National Association of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program directors for a two year term. The Retired Senior Volunteer Program is a United Way program and serves Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, and York and Gloucester counties.
