Isobel Lees ``Iz'' Hollerbach, 80, of Lake James in Virginia Beach, died Sept. 9, 1995, in Sentara Bayside Hospital.
Mrs. Hollerbach was a native of Maywood, Ill. All during her life, in addition to raising her beloved family, she did much volunteer work at various U.S. Army stations in the states and overseas. She was Thrift Shop treasurer at the Amphibious Base from 1960 to 1964. Also, she was a Red Cross worker, president of the Officers' Wives' Club, Fort Meade, Md., president of the Garden Club, Fort Meade and nurse's aide at Kimbrough Army Hospital at Fort Meade. She received 1000-hour award for work with Women's Thrift Shop at Monroe, Mich., and was deputy treasurer of Monroe Charter Township, Monroe, Ill.
She was the beloved wife for 55 years of Col. Eugene J. Hollerbach, U.S. Army (Ret.) and is also survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lynn H. and Col. Michael W. Smiley of Robins Air Force Base, Georgia; two sons, LCDR Robert Hollerbach, U.S. Navy (Ret.) of Virginia Beach and Peter D. Hollerbach of Bel Air, Md.; three sisters, Lorna Hallam of Vanderbilt, Pa., Mary Novotney and Janet Rollberg of Oakpark, Ill.; a brother, Robert Lees of Maywood, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, James E. Hollerbach.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, by her long time friend and neighbor, the Rev. James L. Mahaffy. A private burial will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
