About 4,000 Virginia Power customers in the Ocean View area lost service Wednesday after an underground cable failed.
The blackout, which began about 4:15 p.m., affected Willoughby and areas along Granby Street, Tidewater Drive and Ocean View Avenue. Virginia Power technicians switched customers to alternate lines, and service was restored by 7 p.m.
The utility said it traced the problem to an underground cable feeding a substation near the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel. by CNB
