Gerald Deans Perry, 68, of Route 1, died Sunday morning, Sept. 17, 1995, in his home.
A native of Perquimans County, he was the son of the late S.T. Perry and Pauline Deans Perry. He was a retired inspector with the N.C. Department of Marine Fisheries. He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church, former exalted ruler of Elks Lodge (NU)856, Elizabeth City, the board of directors of the N.C. Aquarium, Roanoke Island and was a former chairman of the Dare County Republican Party. Mr. Perry served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Cathy Elwang of Southern Shores; a stepson, Mike Harrell of Wanchese; a devoted companion, Evelyn Bennett of Powell's Point; two sisters, Marjorie Fields of Wrightsville Beach and Janice Winslow of Hertford; a brother, A. Stephen Perry of Hertford; and four grandchildren.
The family will meet this evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Swindell Funeral Home, Hertford, and other times at the home of Billy and Janice Winslow, 205 Crescent Drive, Hertford. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Perry-Mullen Family Cemetery, Route 3, Hertford.
