Mary J. Selfridge, 79, of the 3200 block of Knox St., died Sept. 16, 1995, in her home.
Mrs. Selfridge was born in Stockbridge, Ga., and was the widow of James O. Selfridge Sr. She was a member of Bentley Hill AME Church in Stockbridge and attended St. Mark Baptist Church in Portsmouth.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary S. Jones of Stockbridge, Ga., and Elizabeth Robinson of Portsmouth; three sons, James Otis Selfridge Jr. of Beaumont, Texas, Bennie M. Selfridge and Thomas F. Selfridge, both of Portsmouth; 12 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, in Bentley Hill AME Church, Stockbridge, Ga., by the Rev. Brown. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth, where a memorial wake will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. The body will be shipped on Wednesday to W.D. Lemon & Sons Funeral Home, McDonough Ga., for funeral and burial.
