THE SCORE (WGH-AM 1310), Hampton Roads' all-sports station, is fielding a new morning lineup starting Monday.
Scott Jackson and program director Pete Medhurst will host the 6-9 morning-drive show, with John Castleberry and Jim Ducibella teaming up from 9 to noon. The rest of the schedule is unchanged: ``The Fabulous Sports Babe,'' noon to 2 p.m., and veteran Tony Mercurio anchoring afternoons from 2 to 6.
Castleberry had worked the early shift solo, followed by Ducibella-Jackson.
Mercurio, the station's sports director, said most morning-drive shows have two hosts, but the main reason for the shift was travel schedules. Castleberry covers Old Dominion University men's basketball for WGH and often returns late from away games, leaving little time to unwind for the next day's broadcast.
``It was more feasible,'' he said. ``Scott and Pete don't travel.''
Castleberry and Ducibella are well-known in the area and will bring a lot of experience to their show. Castleberry is sports director at WTKR-TV (Channel 3); Ducibella covers the Redskins and the NFL for The Virginian-Pilot.
``They'll be an interesting combination,'' Mercurio said. ``It should work out pretty good.'' by CNB
