An important drawbridge linking the Mount Pleasant and North Landing Farms sections of Chesapeake with the Princess Anne section of Virginia Beach will be closed to motorists through Oct. 6.
The North Landing Bridge, which crosses the Intracoastal Waterway at the city line where North Landing Road and Mount Pleasant Road meet, was closed for repairs on Friday. The bridge will remain open to boat traffic, but boaters are cautioned about the construction.
The closure is necessary to facilitate sandblasting while complying with environmental and health regulations.
The alternate route, marked by detour signs, will run along Mount Pleasant Road, Centerville Turnpike, and Elbow and Indian River roads. The bridge is scheduled to reopen at 6 p.m. Oct. 6. by CNB
