Three American servicemen accused of raping a 12-year-old
Okinawan girl have been charged with rape resulting in injury. They
face a maximum life sentence if convicted. A story in Friday's A
section misstated the charge and possible sentence. See today's
story on Page A13.
The wrong caption ran Friday with an AP photo, on page A8, about
protests in the West Bank town of Hebron. The photo showed a
Palestinian youth, suspected of stone throwing, trying to break away
from two Israeli soldiers.
Car thefts in Chesapeake rose 17 percent from January to August
1995 compared to the same period a year ago. A Sept. 20 Metro News
story and chart on crime statistics erroneously had Chesapeake car
thefts up 27.5 percent. The information came from the Norfolk Police
Department.
Country singers Martina McBride and Clay Walker will perform
tonight at 7:30 at the State Fair of Virginia. The comedian
Gallagher performed Friday night. A preview schedule had the wrong
