3 BOWLERS PICKED FOR LOCAL HALL OF FAME

The Tidewater Virginia Bowling Council has selected three to be inducted into its bowling Hall of Fame this year.

Gary Faulkner has been selected for outstanding performance. Vivian Campbell has been chosen for meritorious service. Kristi Richards has been picked as ``Star of the Future.''

The inductions will be held at a dinner program on Nov. 18, at the Holiday Inn-Chesapeake.

Faulkner, who moved to this area in 1991, has been ranked among the premier league bowlers each year since. He has bowled four 300 games in leagues here, including back-to-back perfect games in an 810 series. He is one of only 40 bowlers in the nation ever to throw sanctioned back-to-back 300s.

He has a career total of 39 300s and 12 series of 800 or higher.

A member of the Pro Bowlers Tour for five years, he has won two PBA Regional tournaments and placed in many.

Campbell has been a member of the Portsmouth Women's Bowling Association for 33 years and a director for 22. She has been secretary-treasurer of the Friday Night Mixed League for nearly 20 years.

She has been a delegate to the Virginia State Women's Bowling Association and a delegate to the WIBC.

Richards now attends Lindsay Wilson College in Columbia, Ky., on a bowling scholarship and competes on its bowling team.

Over the past 11 seasons she has won numerous awards in youth leagues. In 1994 she competed in the Dick Weber Classic Pro-Am/Central Fidelity Scholarship Shootout. She was second in the qualifying and won the televised shootout, earning a $500 scholarship.

She also won a $750 scholarship by capturing the girls scratch title in the Coca-Cola YBA state tournament last year, finishing seventh out of 60 bowlers in the national finals.

She maintained a 177 average in leagues and tournaments last season.

Bowler of the Week honors are shared by Jeff White and Bob Dolak. Both rolled 300 games.

White fired his 12-striker in the Masters Tenpin League at Pinboy's of Lynnhaven. It opened a 684 series as he came back with games of 199 and 185.

Dolak registered his 300 in a 697 series in the Sunday Twilighters Tenpin League at Pinboy's of Chesapeake.
