JAMES V. SINGLETON

James V. Singleton, 81, of the first block of Spartin St., died Sept. 26, 1995, in Sentara Leigh Hospital.

Mr. Singleton, a retired self-employed painter, was born in Tennessee. He was Protestant and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (NU)4728 in Humboldt, Tenn. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include one daughter, Freida Proctor of Virginia Beach; one sister, Verdie B. Woodard of Sardis, Miss.; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at noon Monday in Quantico National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Kellum Funeral Home, Bonney Road Chapel, from 1 to 5 p.m. today.
