Harlan Alonza Hurdle Sr., 79, of Route 1, died Sept. 30, 1995, in Chowan Hospital.
A native of Gates County, he was a retired logger. He was a member of Sandy Cross Baptist Church. He was the son of the late Alonza Hurdle and Francis Bunch Hurdle.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Riddick Hurdle; four daughters, Joann Dail of Plymouth, Wendy Peede of Belvidere, Frankie Proctor of Roanoke, Va., and Chip Byrum of Seaford, Va.; one son, Harlan Hurdle Jr. of Belvidere; one sister, Foy Duncan of Chesapeake; one brother, Richard Hurdle of Hobbsville; and 11 grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in Sandy Cross Baptist Church by the Rev. Hugh Mizelle. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Harrell Funeral Home, Gatesville, in charge.
