Georgianna B. Cowling, 68, of the 5700 block of Godwin Blvd., died Oct. 2, 1995, in Hampton after a short illness.
Mrs. Cowling, the widow of Fletcher L. Cowling Jr., was a native of Manson, N.C. She was the daughter of the late Buck Burchett and Berlena Burchett. She was retired from the Suffolk Public School System after 31 years of service. She was a member of Little Bethel Baptist Church, where she served on the usher board and nurses unit. She was also a member of the senior choir and Sunday school. She was very active in various aspects of her community.
Survivors include three daughters, Berlena C. Taylor of Hampton, D. Loretta Cowling of New Carrollton, Md., and Sheila Cowling Wise of Birmingham, Ala.; four sons, Vincent L. Cowling, Quinton L. Cowling, Lymas E. Cowling, all of Hampton, and Belvon L. Cowling of Silver Spring, Md.; four sisters, Clementine B. Green of Dinwiddie, Colo., Josephine Terry and Bernice V. Burchett, both of Richmond, Va., and Gretta Blanton of East Orange, N.J.; two brothers, Wilbert L. Burchett of Richmond and Leon Burchett of Manson; 13 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Little Bethel Baptist Church by the Rev. K.D. Shivers. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Viewing will begin at 2 p.m. today in Wyatt and Sons Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church by 12:30 p.m. Friday. Family and friends will assemble at 32 Westminister Drive, Hampton, Va., for the procession.
