Eunice Spencer Collins, 93, of 818 North Respess Street, Washington, N.C., died Monday, Oct. 2, 1995, at her home.
Mrs. Collins was born Oct. 22, 1901, in Engelhard, N.C., to the late Nathaniel Henry and Mary Neta Gibbs Spencer. On Aug. 25, 1923, she married Hallet Roosevelt Collinsm who preceded her in death Dec. 31, 1987. She received her formal education in the Hyde County Schools. She was a member of the New Bethlehem Disciples of Christ Church, Norfolk, where she was a member of the Senior Choir. Mrs. Collins was a retired employee with the Norfolk City Schools.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Georgia Gorham, Washington; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Aggie Whitfield, Engelhard, N.C., and Eldress Wilda Brown, Brooklyn, N.Y.; a brother, Daniel Spencer, Brooklyn, N.Y. Her son, Prentice Lee Collins preceded her in death in 1956.
Funeral services will be held today at 1:00 p.m. in Norfolk, at the New Bethelehem Disciples of Christ Church, 939 Marietta Avenue with the Rev. Avent Craig officiating. Burial will follow at the Roosevelt Memorial Park and Cemetery, Incorp in Chesapeake. Grandsons will serve as Pall Bearers. The family received friends from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Chapel of Randolph Funeral Home, 219 Bonner Street, and other times at the home.
