City Council meetings are telecast live beginning at 7 p.m. on Municipal Access TV/Channel 13 on Falcon Cable. Telecast is repeated at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. The work session on the fourth Wednesday is taped and aired at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. the following Thursday through Sunday.
The City Council took the following actions at its meeting Wednesday:
A. An ordinance to appropriate $55,000 in funds for two fire suppression water storage tanks - Second Reading. Approved 6-1
B. An ordinance appropriating $88,100 for the purchase of a modular court facility - Second Reading. Approved 6-1
C. An ordinance accepting and appropriating $1,400 from the Virginia State Police Help Eliminate Auto Theft (HEAT) Program for the purchase of promotional items - First Reading. No vote on first reading
D. An ordinance amending Sections 1-6.1 and 5-7.1 and of the Code of the City of Suffolk, relating to the enforcement of certain housing and building code requirements. Approved 7-0
A. Resolution approving issuance of Industrial Development Revenue Bonds for Tidewater Container Corporation in an amount not to exceed $1,600,000. Approved 7-0
B. Resolution requesting the Virginia Department of Transportation to include Chatham Road from Kendall Way to Burning Tree Lane in the Chatham Woods Subdivision into the State Secondary Road System. Approved 7-0
A. Authorize a change order for the construction of 10 additional t-hangars at the Suffolk Municipal Airport. Approved 7-0
B. Establish a City Council Work Session for Wednesday, Oct. 18, at 5 p.m. unless canceled. Approved 7-0
C. A motion to reappoint Councilwoman Marian B. Rogers to the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission. Approved 7-0
D. A motion to appropriate $7,000 to the Child Abuse Center of Hampton Roads. Approved 7-0
