BANKING
Mark W. Sharer was promoted to regional executive in the real estate banking division at NationsBank. He will be responsible for managing commercial and residential real estate lending activities in Eastern Virginia. He joined the company in 1980 as a bank examiner.
Cenit Bank has promoted three officers. Thomas C. Leffew was promoted from first vice president and manager of real estate finance to senior vice president and manager of real estate finance. He has been with Cenit three years. Previously, he was a senior vice president with NationsBank.
Also, Patrick L. Hillard was promoted from first vice president and manager of Cenit's residential loan department to senior vice president and manager of residential loans.
And Vernard E. Lockwood II was promoted from first vice president and manager of the bank's Peninsula construction lending division to senior vice president and manager of Peninsula construction lending.
ENGINEERING
Michael R. Sullivan has joined the consulting engineering firm of Beach Professional Services Corp. in Virginia Beach as a project manager/mechanical engineer. He was formerly with Law Engineering and Environmental Services in Chesapeake as the department manager of the facilities services group.
FINANCE
John Dahlgren has joined Fortunato Financial Services, a registered investment advisory firm in Virginia Beach. He will be a representative in the Peninsula area and will focus on retirement, estate and college planning.
HEALTH CARE
Dr. Robert M. Rubin, president of Drs. Rubin, Karesh and Shivar, was installed as president of the Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontists. The national organization consists of orthodontists who conduct clinical research and publish their reports in ``The Angle Orthodontist,'' an international journal. Drs. Rubin, Karesh and Shivar have offices in Norfolk, Virginia Beach and Chesapeake.
Betty Freeman, administrator of Hillhaven Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of Virginia Beach, was elected 1995 Tidewater district chairperson for the Virginia Health Care Association.
Kenneth A. DeBarth, a certified physician's assistant, was named administrative and clinical director of the Ocracoke Health Center in Ocracoke, N.C. Before coming to Ocracoke, he was a general partner of the Heuvelton Medical Group in Heuvelton, N.Y.
INSURANCE
J.C. Scribner, a chartered life underwriter and financial consultant, was appointed director of education at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. in Norfolk. He will train and monitor the activities of all newly appointed agents.
LAW
Jon D. Becker of Diamonstein, Becker & Staley in Virginia Beach, was elected to the board of governors of the Commercial Law League of America. The Commercial Law League, founded in 1895, is North America's oldest creditors' rights organization.
MUNICIPAL
Patricia Kelly was named manager of communications for the City of Norfolk. She will supervise the city's public relations, public information and crisis communications activities as well as programming for WCTY-TV, Norfolk's government access cable television station. She previously worked as manager of travel industry communications for Amtrak in Washington, D.C., for eight years.
TRAVEL
Helen Leon was promoted to manager of corporate operations of CI Travel on Front Street in Norfolk. She joined CI Travel in 1987 and has served as assistant manager of the premier travel division. Most recently, she served as director of quality control.
WHOLESALE
Mike Natale was promoted to vice president and general manager of Dillard, a ResourceNet international company in Norfolk. He joined Dillard in 1991 as sales manager of the Richmond division. He has 14 years of sales and sales management experience.
Gregg A. Trestman has become a partner in Let Us Produce Inc., a fruit and vegetable distributor in downtown Norfolk. Prior to joining the company, he was with Nesson Meat Sales in Norfolk as an account manager. MEMO: Career Track reports upper-level executive and management changes. Items
