Truxton Smeltzer Taylor, 82, of the 2600 block of Greenwood Drive, died Oct. 11, 1995, in Portsmouth.
Mr. Taylor, a native of Red Lion, Pa., retired from the U.S. Navy as a chief warrant officer after 20 years of service. He also retired from Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Helen L. Taylor; one daughter, Lynda Powell of Chesapeake; one son, Truxton E. Taylor of Suffolk; his stepmother, Pearl B. Taylor of San Diego, Calif.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Boulevard Chapel, by the Rev. Milford Rollins. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church.
