A 17-year-old Norfolk boy was arrested Wednesday in connection with a firebomb that was discovered Monday in the parking lot of Fairlawn Elementary School.
Gang squad investigator M.E. Crank arrested the teenager at 8:35a.m. He was charged with manufacturing and possessing a firebomb. The school's principal discovered the Molotov cocktail.
Only school personnel were inside because the school, at 1132 Wade St., was closed for Columbus Day. The motive for planting the bomb is under investigation.
The teen also was charged with malicious wounding in the shooting of a 14-year-old girl Sunday.
The shooting occurred at the intersection of Poplar Hall Drive and Virginia Beach Boulevard at 7:20 p.m. The motive for the attack allegedly was revenge from a past dispute, police spokesman Larry Hill said.
Another 17-year-old boy also was charged, and police are looking for a third suspect. by CNB
