SALE OF PRINTS TO BENEFIT SCHOOL ARTIST RICK ROMANO IS SELLING 750 COPIES OF A RENDERING OF PRINCESS ANNE HIGH SCHOOL.

Artist Rick Romano is offering 750 copies of his new rendering of Princess Anne High School for sale beginning today at Pembroke Mall.

Romano, a Virginia Beach native, will be on hand today and Saturday to autograph prints, which will go on sale for $45 a copy to help raise money for the school's recovery fund.

A fire early Sept. 1 gutted the central portion of the 42-year-old high school, forcing school administrators to move the bulk of the students to makeshift classrooms in Celebration Station, a reconditioned shopping mall several blocks east of the school on Virginia Beach Boulevard at Little Neck Road.

A group of Princess Anne students, parents and faculty members initiated a ``recovery fund'' to raise money for supplies and equipment lost in the blaze by teachers and student clubs and activities.

Romano's prints will be sold from his kiosk during opening hours at Pembroke Mall today and Saturday.

The print sale is part of an effort by mall merchants and management to help recovery efforts undertaken by Princess Anne students and staff.

In addition, the Princess Anne High School band will perform at Pembroke Mall at 7 p.m. today. Mall merchants are sponsoring the appearance with a $500 donation to the band, which lost supplies and sheet music in the fire.

Romano, a graduate of First Colonial High School, has been painting local beach scenes and collages for the past two decades. Prints of his works hang in business offices, hotel lobbies, restaurants and in private homes throughout the city. ILLUSTRATION: Rick Romano's prints of Princess Anne High will be sold for $45
