His doctors have declared U.S. Rep. Norman Sisisky ``cancer free,'' clearing the way for the Petersburg Democrat to seek an eighth term in Congress next year, a spokeswoman said Thursday.
Sisisky, 68, who represents western Tidewater, underwent surgery in August for removal of a small cancerous growth in his colon. Aides had indicated then that he intended to seek another term and expected a full recovery. Sisisky returned to work full-time this week. A spokeswoman said doctors will monitor his condition and he is continuing to undergo treatments as a precaution against a recurrence of the disease. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
