Mayor Meyera E. Oberndorf hands the gavel to Sister City Mayor
Shigemitsu Tsumura, of Miyazaki, Japan. Besides visiting the mayor
during their visit two weeks ago, members of the Miyazaki delegation
attended the Neptune Festival and a performance of ``Oklahoma!''
presented by Commonwealth Music Stage. Miyazaki is one of two
official sister cities that have international relationships with
Virginia Beach. On Friday, Queen Sonja of Norway was here to
participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Norwegian Lady Statue
at the Oceanfront. The statue was a gift from Moss, Norway, the
Beach's other sister city.
