Leon Smith Jr., 53, of the 700 block of Godwin St., died Oct. 13, 1995, in his residence.
He was a machine operator for Coca-Cola Bottling and was a native of Norfolk County, Va.
He is survived by his mother, Catherine Smith of Portsmouth; daughter, Maveen Grant of Fort Sill, Okla.; son, Cornelius Lightfoot of Portsmouth; four sisters, Mary Elliott, Florence Jefferson, Linda Debrough, and Corlis Smith, all of Portsmouth; two brothers, Darryl Smith of Portsmouth and Larry Jackson of Baltimore; two grandchildren; three aunts, two uncles and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted noon Thursday in Olive Branch Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. J.B. Sharpe. Burial is in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake. Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Serenity Funeral Home, and Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon at the church. Family and friends will assemble at 16 Woodland St., Portsmouth, at 11:15 a.m. for the procession to the church.
