Jerry G. Bray Jr., the longtime chairman of Virginia Wesleyan College's Board of Trustees, received a new medal, named for him, at a dinner Tuesday night.
Bray, former chief judge of Chesapeake District Court, was the first recipient of the Jerry G. Bray Jr. Distinguished Service Medal. He is stepping down after serving as chairman of the board for the past 30 years. Today, the board will elect a new chairman.
``Judge Bray has given extraordinary leadership to this college for more than 30 years,'' said the college's president, William T. ``Billy'' Greer Jr. ``His steady hand and his keen mind have been important factors in the dramatic growth of the college.'' ILLUSTRATION: Photo
