Lizzie Cuffee Sawyer, 89, of the 1900 block of Cedar Road, died Oct. 18, 1995, in Chesapeake General Hospital.
Mrs. Sawyer, the widow of Charlie Sawyer, was a native of Norfolk County. She was a member, stewardess, usher and missionary of Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church, Chesapeake.
Survivors include two daughters, Lillian S. Williams of Chesapeake, Lillie M. Mayo of Portsmouth; four sisters, Lucille C. Hailes, Mildred C. Holmes, Pauline C. Harris and Rosa C. World, all of Chesapeake; five brothers, Anderson Cuffee, Clarence Cuffee, Dennis Cuffee, Charles Cuffee, all of Chesapeake, and Willie E. Bly of Portsmouth; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church, by the Rev. Queen Esther Snell. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at noon today. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Saturday.
