James H. Earl Sr., of the 2900 block of Deep Creek Blvd., died Oct. 17, 1995, in Maryview Hospital, Portsmouth.
Mr. Earl, a retired laborer, worked for the City of Portsmouth for 10 years. He was born in Nansemond County, Va., and was a member of Family Baptist Church, Portsmouth.
Survivors include his wife, Carrie Lee Earl; five daughters, Cynthia Earl and Deborah Earl, both of Portsmouth, Sandra Cannon of Roanoke, Va., Theresa Spencer of Gastonia, N.C., Karen Earl of Newport News; four sons, James H. Earl Jr., Michael A. Earl, Clarence M. Earl and Darrell J. Earl, all of Portsmouth; his mother, Olivia Powell of Portsmouth; one sister, Bessie L. Rodgers of New York, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Corprew Funeral Home Chapel, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Raymond R. Powell. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Portsmouth. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday.
