BOY CROSSING STREET KILLED IN PORTSMOUTH

A young boy was killed in the crosswalk of London Boulevard Saturday afternoon when he was struck by car, police said.

The accident happened around 2 p.m. in the 1100 block of London Blvd., near Elm Street. The boy, whom police had not identified Saturday evening, had crossed the three eastbound lanes of the boulevard and had just stepped from the center median into the westbound lanes when he was struck by a two-door Honda. Police believe the boy is in his early teens.

The driver of the Honda, Guy A. Zierk, a 20-year-old Marine from Columbus, Ohio, has not been charged. Police said the accident is still under investigation. Zierk is stationed in Camp Lejeune, police said.
