Vernon J. ``Buddy'' Hall Jr., 43, of the 400 block of Coconut Lane, passed away Oct. 21, 1995, after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
Mr. Hall was born in Portsmouth Naval Hospital. He was the son of Barbara P. Thrasher and the late Fred L. Thrasher. He was a 1972 U.S. Army veteran; a Chesapeake police officer for six years; and a former member of South Norfolk Masonic Lodge (NU)339. Mr. Hall spent 16 years as a superintendent with Cargill Grain Inc., and for the past year, as a superintendent with Perdue Farms of Virginia Beach.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra L. Hall; two daughters, Ginger Scheible and Lori Hall of Chesapeake; one son, Patrick E. Goodwin of Virginia Beach; one granddaughter, Kelsea Scheible; three sisters, Patricia Arnold of Chesapeake, Kathryn Crittenden of Virginia Beach and Robin Blair of Arlington, Texas; and two brothers, David L. Hall of West Chester, Pa., and Fred L. Thrasher Jr. of Richmond.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Princess Anne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Kellum Funeral Home, Bonney Road Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. The procession to the cemetery will be at 1:40 p.m. Tuesday from the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the American Brain Tumor Association, 2720 River Road, Suite 146, Des Plains, Ill. 60018-4410, or the cancer research center of choice. Vernon was loved by many and will be missed by all.
