DANCING FOR TOLERANCE

ILLUSTRATION: JIM WALKER

The Virginian-Pilot

The Kempsville Presbyterian Church Liturgical Dance Team performs at

the Children's Sabbath '95 in Virginia Beach on Sunday. The

Children's Sabbath was created in 1992 by the Children's Defense

Fund in Washington. The event, one piece of the national picture,

included a procession of children carrying flags, and a worship

service conducted by the children. The service reflected practices

from Judaism to Muslim to Native American to Bahai. Its purpose is

to teach tolerance and offer a place where tolerance can be

learned.
