Willis Dean Emerick Sr., 90, of the 3600 block of S. Warwick Circle, died Oct. 22, 1995.
Mr. Emerick, a retired police officer, worked for the Department of Defense. He was born in Pennsylvania and was the widower of Mary Lou McBride Emerick. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge (NU)28.
Survivors include one daughter, Amy Arison Richardson of Virginia Beach; three sons, Willis D. Emerick Jr., and William G. Emerick, both of Virginia Beach and Charles E. Emerick of Norfolk. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren, Jessica, who he loved and raised as his own daughter, Melissa, April, Angela, Heather, Tiffany, Melanie, and Dean.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Terry Beck. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
