Essie Marie Norman, of the 3000 block of Elm Ave., died Oct. 21, 1995, in Portsmouth General Hospital.
Mrs. Norman, a native of Edenton, N.C., was a member of Brighton Rock A.M.E. Zion Church, Portsmouth. She was a former Sunday school teacher, former usher, former class leader, and president of the Ada F. Price Floral Club.
Survivors include her husband, Elwood Norman Jr.; one daughter, Bertha Norman Booker of Petersburg; one stepdaughter, Margaret Sykes of Portsmouth; two sisters, H. Luberta Holland of Chesapeake and Christine Howell of Roper, N.C.; one brother, James Holley Jr. of Roper; a special great-niece, Darlene Norman of Portsmouth; a son-in-law, James Booker Sr. of Petersburg, Va.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
The funeral will be conducted at noon Wednesday in Brighton Rock A.M.E. Zion Church by Dr. Leroy Blair. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at noon today. The family will be at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m. today. The body will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
